Dear Your Representative's Name,
I am a proud Afghan American constituent and I ask for you to stand with my community to support a sustainable peace process that protects democracy, freedom, and human rights for all Afghans, especially women and children. This peace process should also ensure Afghanistan never again becomes a haven for violent extremist organizations and remains an ally of the United States and democracies around the world.
Afghan-Americans live with the pain, suffering, and loss endured by the Afghan people through more than forty years of war. We want our friends and family in Afghanistan to have a better, safer life, and we need your support to make this possible.
As the 117th Congress addresses issues related to the ongoing peace process and aid to support military and humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan, I hope you will consider the sacrifices citizens of both countries have made to build a democracy in Afghanistan. Seventeen years ago on this day, Afghanistan’s new constitution went into effect, a great achievement in a democracy that was borne out of tremendous sacrifices by Americans and Afghans working together.
As your constituent and an American, it is my hope that our country can continue to work in partnership with Afghans to preserve Afghanistan’s democracy.
Sincerely,
Your Name
City, State
